SONADI ANIMAL CARE SHELTER
Sonadi has an animal care center in Najafgarh with the following facilities:
For Strays:
Puppies are far more vulnerable than adult dogs. Puppies at the shelter include injured & mange ridden puppies as well as healthy young ones that came along with their mothers. In 2004 a separate shelter was established for the puppies, within the center.
HYGIENE: The shelter has 300 animals in-house at any point of time and another 400 ABC animals per month. This puts severe pressure on cleanliness and hygiene. Recognizing the importance of hygiene for animal welfare, Sonadi leaves no stone unturned in its efforts to keep the shelter as clean and hygienic as possible. Some of the measures undertake include:
Regular Fumigation: At Sonadi fumigation is undertaken every month. It ensures that the entire area is disinfected, hygienic and odorless.
Sterilization Kit: All operations are performed after sterilizing the equipment in a sterilizing tank meant for this purpose. This helps kills germs and bacteria and thereby avoids any spreading of infection or disease.
Disposable Needles: Only disposable needle are used at Sonadi to prevent infection from spreading to the animals.
